37 animals from the Dnieper zoo zone arrived in Feldman Ecopark. During the night of August 31 to September 1 donkeys, wolves, raccoon dogs, rhesus macaques, porcupines, rabbits, buzzards, peacocks, ducks, hens Bramah, decorative roosters, and also a raccoon, a boar, a lama, a guinea fowl and a pheasant arrived in Kharkiv.
“Transportation of animals was carried out at night that the heat didn’t aggravate their stress level. All arrived animals will be placed in quarantine rooms, also they will undergo executive checkup, vaccination, deworming” — the deputy director Feldman Ecopark Valery Ivashchenko says.
According to her, at the moment animals are weakened therefore except standard manipulations, experts should work on a special diet for each newcomer. “It will allow to normalize weight and to fill shortage of necessary vitamins and minerals, and, therefore, to strengthen their immunity” — Valeria Ivashchenko tells.
Animals will stay about two weeks under quarantine then they will be lodged in the open-air cages Feldman Ecopark where visitors will be able to see them.
In the next few days experts Feldman Ecopark will transport more animals – donkeys, rams, sheep, boars, goats, foxes, a camel and others. We will remind that in total more than fifty animals from a zoo zone of Dnieper which is closed today, on September 1 will move to Ecopark.
In turn the director Feldman Ecopark Andrey Roshchupkin informed that when the situation in Dnieper improves and appropriate conditions for keeping of animals, according to arrangements of two parties will be created, animals will return to native open-air cages. “Moreover, we will be glad to share other animals. We already repeatedly transferred the pets within the programs of exchange not only to the Kharkiv Zoo, zoos of other cities of Ukraine (Kiev, Lviv, Lutsk, etc.), and also abroad (in particular, to the Jerusalem Zoo) — Andrey Roshchupkin reminded.
