The swans living on one of picturesque lakes of the Regional Landscape Park got new neighbors: ten pink pelicans. They were transferred to Feldman Ecopark by the previous owners who couldn’t cope with appetite of the grown-up natatorial fishers.
People called to the “Service of salvation “Good Home” and told that they were presented baby birds of pelicans, those grew up and they don’t cope with them now. These birds eat a lot of fish – each nearly 2,5 kg. daily. And there are ten of them. Isn’t it rot? 25 kg of fresh fish a day! We met the wantto the applicants and took pelicans in Ecopark. Now, after birds were fattened and we convinced that they are healthy, pelicans were released on the Swan lake”, – the manager of sector of birds Feldman Ecopark Vladimir Perekhodovich told.
Uniqueness of the Swan lake is that here birds can live in the environment as close as possible to natural. A spacious reservoir with a large number of vegetation and fish is at their disposal. Now pelicans catch it independently though employees Feldman Ecopark continue to feed them up. Veterinarians also regularly check a state of health of birds. Swans don’t quarrel with the new neighbors. According to specialists, they have different food ration, so they have no reason for the competition.
We will note that except swans (there are 30 of them on the Swan Lake); here is also a great number of other birds – wild ducks: mallard duck and teal. Recently a stork also emerged here. Warm lodges in which temperature will be +8-+10 are preparing for them. That will allow them to winter comfortably in Feldman Ecopark.
