The results of the National grant competition “Project of school’s nature study corner” were summed up in the Regional Landscape Park Feldman Ecopark this weekend. More than 30 educational institutions took part in it, including not only the general, but also the specialized ones for children with special needs. The geography of the competition covers almost all regions of the country: the works were sent by the teams from Kyiv, Donetsk, Kherson, Rivne, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsy and other oblasts of Ukraine. The jury consisting of the representatives of the competition’s organizers – the National Naturalistic Ecological Center under the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Regional Landscape Park Feldman Ecopark – assessed the works in two categories: “I have an idea” (the creation of the nature study corner) and “The new view” (the modernization of the nature study corner). The winners of the competition were awarded with certificates, money prizes and animals for the implementation of their project.
“The aim of the competition was to stimulate the creative interest of children and educators in the creation of the nature study corners in their schools. It is as important as the school desks and computers in the classrooms. The school’s nature study corners are not just basic elements of the educational process on the natural history and biology lessons. They play an important part in the upbringing of the younger generation. The matter is not only in the environmental culture and love for the nature of the native land. Communicating with animals, children learn to be responsible and merciful, they learn to be human,” the head of humanitarian projects in the Feldman Ecopark Iryna Yavorska emphasized.
