The director Feldman Ecopark Andrey Roshchupkin participated in the annual Ukrainian Association of Zoos and Aquariums (UAZA) meeting during which the Ecopark was admitted to membership of the UAZA.
“The Ukrainian Association of Zoos and Aquariums unites all main zoos of Ukraine, both state, and private; therefore the membership in it is necessary for development of communications with zoos of our country, sharing of experience and effective cooperation in different aspects of our activities, – Andrey Roshchupkin noted. – It is important that the UAZA’s activities are based on the principles of the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums which alternate member is Feldman Ecopark”.
As the director Feldman Ecopark told, many subjects, urgent for the Ukrainian zoos, were discussed during the meeting: employee training questions, animal exchange opportunities, problems of animal reproduction. In particular, the organization of the Zookeeper Training School UAZA) was one of key questions.
Let’s remind that in April of this year Feldman Ecopark received the status of the alternate member of the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums. In September at the World EAZA conference which took place in Belfast (Northern Ireland) the project of complex development of a zoo within Feldman Ecopark was provided.
Reference. The UAZA was created in 2011 as non-commercial association of zoos and aquariums of Ukraine, and also the entities and the organizations which support activities of zoos. Among the setting tasks of the association is working out the development strategy for zoos and aquariums, creation of the general database, training of employees of zoos and increase in their qualification, coordination of research and methodology work, zoo tourism popularization, provision of a necessary assistance to zoos and aquariums and the organization of joint projects, optimization of the animal exchange.
