The first open cross-country skiing competitions for Feldman Ecopark Cup will take place on January 22 within the framework of the celebration of the World Snow Day. The athletes of all ages – from the youngest to the senior skiers – will line up at the start of the track in the Regional Landscape Park.
Svitlana Ilinskykh, the head of the Feldman Ecopark Ski Club, said that the aim of the competitions is to popularize and develop skiing in Kharkiv and oblast, including among children and youths, as well as to support the talented and promising young athletes.
“The similar competitions will be held in the territory of Feldman Ecopark for the first time, and we hope that they will become regular in the future, and, perhaps, will become international. Our aim is to create a modern skiing center for everyone in the Regional Landscape Park for it to become a pride for the whole Kharkiv region,” Svitlana Ilinskykh says.
The competitions are intended for the participation of seven age groups: 2009 year of birth and younger, 2007-2008 – 500m distance, 2006-2005, 2004-2003 – 1km distance, 2002-2001 – 2km distance, 2000-1999, and 1998 and older – 3.5km distance.
All participants of the competitions will get start numbers and certificates, which they will be able to keep as a souvenir. The winners will be awarded with special certificates, medals and special prizes. The issue of start numbers will start at 10.30 a.m. The start of the youngest group is at 11 a.m.

The programme devoted to the World Snow Day includes skijoring, sledding, dog sledding, as well as hot cereal and tea, horse show, and sports competitions.
The World Snow Day, initiated by the International Ski Federation (FIS) is celebrated on the penultimate Sunday of January since 2012. The World Snow Day motto says “Explore, Enjoy, Experience!” and the aim of the holiday is to popularize the winter sports and active lifestyle.
It should be reminded that the Feldman Ecopark Ski Club was established in October 2016. It is the new sports direction within the 1,000 Teams Tournament project.
