The Feldman Ecopark presented 12 white swans to the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo (Israel). Birds moved to Israel within the programme of free exchange of animals.
According to the specialists of the Feldman Ecopark’s international department, the Israeli Zoo lacked for this bird species, and the Social and Humanitarian Multi-Complex was pleased help the colleagues in this issue. The Jerusalem Biblical Zoo, for its part, will also present the charges to Kharkiv. The question of what animals will be brought is under consideration.
Swans meet quite rare in the nature of Israel, only in the northern part of the country, but they live in parks and zoos there, as well as almost the world over. These largest waterfowl are presented in the Jerusalem Zoo as well. “Acclimatization to new conditions, much more southern and warm, shouldn’t become a problem for our swans and they will enlarge the bird collection of the Israeli Zoo. The cooperation with various zoos of the world, first of all, within the framework of the European Endangered Species Programme of the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA) and the World Open Foundation for Animal Rehabilitation and Reintroduction (WOFARR), is very important for us — in Feldman Ecopark noted. – Our relationship with the Jerusalem Zoo were established a long time ago, and we hope that this successful cooperation will continue”.
It should be reminded that the animal exchange programmes work between Feldman Ecopark and the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo since 2015. The European otters became the first animals presented to Israel by the Ecopark. In 2016, vice versa — three females of a huge gray kangaroo and two couples of prairie dogs moved from Israel to Kharkiv. The Feldman Ecopark and the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo conduct cooperation within the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA): in particular, the director-general of Jerusalem Biblical Zoo Shai Doron presented Feldman Ecopark while obtaining the status of a candidate for EAZA membership in 2016.
