Feldman Ecopark young naturalists create eco-toys for predators

Kids of the Feldman Ecopark Theatre of Children and Animals, as well as the youngest naturalists of “Growing up in the Ecopark” circle create useful toys for predators. In order to diversify their life, children make textile candies for tigers, wolves and bears, as well as rattles in form of containers with dried fruits for coatis.

“Although the predators seem to be menacing and fierce, You may be confident that like any pet they like light-hearted plays with the favourite toys,” the head of the Theatre of Children and Animals Olena Harazhina tells. “We create textile candies stuffed with straw for them. These handmade toys are very popular among wolves, tigers and bears. They may spend hours playing with them. The toys are made of safe materials and are not harmful for animals.”

As for coatis, they got presents not of the common type. The rattle hides their favourite dainty. In order to pull dried fruits out of containers, the animals will have to demonstrate acumen.

“There are slots in the rattle, which may be used by coati to get food. She will roll it all over the enclosure until gets absolutely everything. These games help animals not to lose their natural instincts to get food using their own efforts,” the Ecopark experts explain.

After the eco-toys get to the predators’ enclosures, the young naturalists of the Feldman Ecopark supervise them for a long time. They make notes of everything they notice and later make their personal reports. These works will be presented by the young naturalists on the all-Ukrainian competition of scientific works “Intel Eco Ukraine.”
