The symbolic fire of peace and friendship from the place of Jesus Christ’s birth in Bethlehem was brought to Feldman Ecopark by Ukrainian scouts. For over 20 years, the Peace Light of Bethlehem is passed from hand to hand by scouts across Europe as a symbol of light uniting the whole world. This spiritual action was initially planned with the purpose of support of children with special needs and those who needs assistance and attention.
Peace Light of Bethlehem is spread in Ukraine by the Plast National Scout Organization of Ukraine. They traditionally give it to religious communities, churches, bring it to orphanages and hospitals in order those who are far from their families to be able to feel the warmth of the Star of Bethlehem. During the last years, the Peace Light bringing campaign was blessed by Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyivan Patriarchate, Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church, and Catholic Church in Ukraine.
This year, the Regional Landscape Park Feldman Ecopark joined the ‘relay race’ of light.
“Feldman Ecopark has always been tolerant and respectful in relation to the spiritual traditions of different nations; we celebrate the holidays of various religious confessions here,” the director of Feldman Ecopark Andrii Roshchupkin emphasized. “We are open for all good initiatives and are ready to support any good deed. Ecopark picks up the baton to bring the light of peace and friendship to people.”
