Nearly a thousand new trees and bushes were planted in the Regional Landscape Park Feldman Ecopark this spring. The most interesting of them and wholesome from the point of view of aromatherapy are the coniferous plants.
The medicine knows for a long time that the scent of pine needles contains a very high concentration of healing components – phytoncides. It is very wholesome to breathe them, especially in case of colds, bronchus and lung illnesses. Moreover, the scent of fresh pine needles improves mood and calms down. Everyone is able to take phytoncide air-bath in the Regional Landscape Park. The collection of conifers in it consists of dozens of local and exotic species, the specialists note.
“We constantly increase the species group. This spring, we have planted thirty blue spruces, more than fifty pine bonsais, two hundred bushes of thujas occidentalis ‘Danica’ and nearly five hundred Juniperus Sabina,” the chief landscape architect of Feldman Ecopark Mykola Dvoretskyi told. “Taking the previously planted trees and bushes into account, the collection of our part is quite serious. Although it still cannot compete with the special arboreta, but it already appeals the specialists and, the main thing, makes the visitors glad.”
It should be noted that in addition of the rich collection of evergreen beauties, Feldman Ecopark has a lot of other rare plants: the total of nearly 50 exotic species. They include the decorative kinds of birch, sakura, morus alba ‘Pendula’ and sweet cherry. According to the data as of the beginning of 2017, the total of over 2,000 plants was planted during more than 5 years after the opening of the Regional Landscape Park, including 900 trees (525 conifers and 375 deciduous) and 1,200 bushes (540 conifers and 660 deciduous.)
It should be also reminded that Ukraine’s only Chrysanthemum Ball takes place in Feldman Ecopark every year. Last autumn it was visited by hundreds of thousands of visitors, who were able to admire 30,000 bushes of chrysanthemums of 60 species. Moreover, Feldman Ecopark is famous for the Tulip Festival: last spring, more than 200,000 flowers were planted. This year, 35,000 more of these perennial plants are expected to bloom during the May holidays.
