The warrior’s way – one for two, the conceptually original and unique according to its content exhibition opened in the Ancient Chernihiv, the Chernihiv National Architectural-Historical Park, on May 18. It demonstrates the arms and power symbols of the epic heroes of the past – the Cossacks and the Samurai. The legendary Japanese katana swards, Cossack’s sabres and trophy Turkish yataghans are demonstrated near shestopyors, pernaches (the kind of mace), and signet rings known only thanks to the portraits of Ukrainian hetmans. Each of these unique objects is interesting as a work of art, as a heraldic attraction, as a rarity related to the destinies of certain people and the heroic past of the whole nations. All exhibits are taken from the Feldman’s Museum collection.
“We want to draw a parallel between these at first sight distant cultural and historical phenomena, to show their similarity and difference, in order to emphasize the timeless universal significance of such moral values as honour, valour, and self-sacrifice,” Oleksandr Feldman, the collector and the founder of the museum tells.
The warrior’s way – one for two exhibition takes place in Chernihiv within the framework of the new historical and educational project of the International Charitable Foundation “Oleksandr Feldman Foundation.” It has already been demonstrated in Kyiv, and it is planned to show it in the other cities of Ukraine: Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Lviv, Zaporizhzhia.
