The last shift of the summer children’s camp in Feldman Ecopark which worked since June and till the end of August was ended. “This year it was no end of interest from people to register in the camp, all places have been filled for two months ahead in one week and it was necessary to organize additional shifts”, – in Feldman Ecopark noted . More than six hundred young Kharkiv citizens and residents of the area could spend time there with advantage for themselves absolutely free of charge. They managed to plunge into the amazing world of wildlife, to broaden the horizons, to get acquainted with new friends and to gain strength before the forthcoming academic year.
“The work program of the summer camp was made taking into account age and other features of children. Each shift had the specifics, – the head of humanitarian programs Feldman Ecopark Irina Yavorskaya told. – We tried to make rest of each child useful, healthy and unforgettable. For children who study all the year round on days off the emphasis was placed on improvement of skills and increasing knowledge in the chosen directions. And to those children who came to the Ecopark for the first time we tried to show its life most fully on all sides and from within. These are: care of pets in a vivarium, the closed poultry house, and trainings in the Horse Complex, rehearsals in the Theatre of Children and Animals. They had an opportunity to see what isn’t accessible to visitors and to try themselves in all activities of young naturalists”.
Special shifts for children with special needs became an innovation of a summer season of 2016. In their program the main attention was paid to improvement and rehabilitation.
“For several years Feldman Ecopark cooperates with the specialized organizations and realizes own programs for children with special needs, in particular, the Center of Psychosocial Rehabilitation works at its base. And this year we came up with the idea of special changes in our summer camp for such children. Except the general entertainment program, excursions and walks the sessions of an animal therapy, hippotherapy, art therapy and other developing activities were provided. All this occurred in the course of communication with the young naturalists and other children who are spending vacation at a camp. According to psychologists, it is very important for socialization of children with special needs and promotes their adaptation to life in society”, – the director Feldman Ecopark Andrey Roshchupkin emphasized.
According to him, the main result of work of the camp this summer, nevertheless was not only the expansion of the areas of work and increase of opportunities for summer holiday and recreation of children almost three times, and the fact that all of them have learned to love the nature and to be friendly. It was visually shown on the evening completing the last shift – the participants of all changes of the camp gathered around a traditional farewell fire to wish each other new meetings in Feldman Ecopark.
