Anti-Defamation League office is to open in Kyiv

Ukrainian MP, the president of Ukrainian Jewish Committee Oleksandr Feldman initiated the opening of the office of the Anti-Defamation League in Kyiv.

He informed about this according to the results of the business trip to the USA.

According to his words, the possibility of opening of Ukrainian office was discussed during the meeting with the representatives of the Anti-Defamation League in New York.

“The Anti-Defamation League has representative offices in many countries of the world today. It is focused on the monitoring activity, within which the displays of hostility and hate are recorded, the activity of far-right groups are tracked, and on the education, including various workshops and trainings for law-enforcement authorities, public activists, educators and teachers of universities. During these trainings, it is explained what is the ‘hate speech,’ ‘incident on the ground of hate,’ ‘hate crime,’ what is their social danger, how to investigate similar crimes, and what is the role of NGOs in prevention of similar crimes and in work with the victims,” the politician tells.

According to his words, more than 100,000 police officers have already taken part in the relevant trainings in the USA.

“The Anti-Defamation League is ready to work in Ukraine, and is ready to carry out the monitoring activity. The activists of the organization offered also to arrange and to carry out the relevant training for Ukrainian police officers,” Oleksandr Feldman told.

It should be reminded that the Anti-Defamation League is a Jewish non-governmental organization established in 1913. The main goal of the ADL is the support of educational programmes aimed at the struggle against race intolerance, the struggle against anti-Semitism as a political phenomenon, the monitoring of the anti-Semitism incidents all over the world. The annual budget of the organization is USD 50 million.
