A Wall of Remembrance opened in Kharkiv

A Wall of Remembrance was opened in the Feldman Ecopark (Kharkiv) by the Victory Day. The residents of Kharkiv brought about 1,000 photos and documents of their relatives – the heroes who defeated Nazism during the World War II. They made the memorial installation symbolizing the indestructible ties between generations – the gratitude to the forefathers and the edification to the descendants.

“I am very glad that fellow-citizens has responded to this initiative of our foundation: to spend this holiday in the Ecopark together with their close people, both alive and those who passed away,” the founder of the ICF “Oleksandr Feldman Foundation,” Ukrainian MP Oleksandr Feldman tells. “They just took front photos from their family album and came here to tell their children about their great grandfathers and great grandmothers, the feats of which deserve to be proud of. They were able to remember the history of their families, which is the part of the general history of the whole nation. And we even did not expect this number of letters, calls, and people who came here today.”

The partners of A Wall of Remembrance project were common residents of Kharkiv, public friends, educational institutions. In particular, the exposition included over 600 photos and materials which were gathered by workers, teachers and students of the Kharkiv University of Humanities “People’s Ukrainian Academy.” According to the words of Oleksandr Feldman, A Wall of Remembrance project is open for cooperation and will develop.

“The more similar projects, absolutely different, resembling each other and not, the better. We must do everything possible to preserve the historical memory. If a nation has no memory, it has no future,” Mr. Feldman emphasized.

The great programme was prepared for the Victory Day in the Feldman Ecopark: the performances by the Staryi Tsyrk studio, the Children of the Future band and other best teams of Kharkiv. Both small and adult audience was impressed by the show No One is Forgotten, Nothing is Forgotten by the Theatre of Children and Animals, and the show We Remember by the artists of the Horse Complex of the Feldman Ecopark.
