The presentation of a book devoted to tragic pages of history of Germans in Ukraine will take place in the AVEС Gallery on October 26 (at 3:30 p.m.). The book’s author, Dr. Alfred Eisfeld, the German historian, the expert in history and culture of Germans in the Russian Empire, the USSR and the former Soviet Union will come to Kharkiv to present the scientific work to the Ukrainian colleagues and wide audience. This collection of documentary materials in two volumes, many of which were earlier classified, is titled “Big terror” in Ukraine: the German operation 1937 – 1938″.
On the same day, the round table devoted to the subject “The German ethnos of Ukraine — from invitation to prosecution” will take place in the media centre “Vremia”. The Ukrainian and German historians, journalists, local historians will be the speakers. The beginning of a round table at 10:30 a.m.
Both events will become symbolical completion of the exhibition “Germans in Ukraine: history and culture” which is exhibited in the AVEC Gallery since October 12 within the campaign “Week of Germany in Ukraine 2018”.
It should be reminded that Alfred Eisfeld is the author of the exhibition’s concept and its text component as well. This mobile exposition, which has already visited different regions of Ukraine, consists of the illustrated information stands narrating about the role of the German community in the history of Ukraine from the X century to 1939.
Besides, it should be reminded that an exhibition “Germans in Ukraine: history and culture” together with the related events is a start of the joint project of the Association of National and Cultural Unions of Ukraine together with the International Charitable Foundation “Oleksandr Feldman Foundation” directed to acquaintance with history of people living in our country.
