The exhibition of works of the famous Kharkiv artist Oleg Lazarenko “Jungle – the heart of India” will open on Friday, February 3, in the AVEC Gallery.
The works of the artist written following the results of his trip to India in the winter of 2013 will be presented on it. Oleg Lazarenko visited 16 cities in the Central and Western India, observed tigers and other animals in nature reserves, life of the Indian peasants and the upper class representatives, visited the cave cities and places of worship.
“The exhibition in the AVEC Gallery is the first presentation of the “Indian Diary” project which was born according to the results of a trip. In the jungle of India I was lucky to see plenty of moments from animal and people life usually hidden from the onlooker’s view. I tried to transfer soul of India, sources of its traditions, customs and beliefs into my paintings. Having returned to Kharkiv I often came in the Feldman Ecopark in order to keep brightness of memories of the jungle’s wild animals” — the artist told.
The exhibition includes about 50 works, the majority of which are patchwork paintings which founder is Oleg Lazarenko. The main characters of his works are people and animals: monkeys, tigers, leopards. Also several plain-air landscapes painted directly in India are presented. The exposition is naturally complemented with the Indian musical instruments collection presented to the viewer by the Kharkiv master Igor Gorbov.
“Jungle – the heart of India” exhibition will be opened in the AVEC Gallery (Sumskaya St., 70) at 18:00 on February 3. Entrance is free.
