On Sunday, July 9, a young buzzard was released in nature in the Feldman Ecopark. The rescued feathered predator steadily flew up sky-high towards a new life.
“It was brought to us absolutely tiny fledgling therefore we tried to provide the growing organism with a balanced nutrition — Volodymyr Perekhodovych, the head of birds sector of the Feldman Ecopark told. — We fed the bird mainly with chicken meat and veal. Later the nestling learned to procure food, relying on natural instincts. It hunted small rodents as it happens under natural conditions. It meant that the male is ready to stand up for himself independently”.
It should be reminded that the predatory fledgling was brought to the Feldman Ecopark’s specialists early in the summer. The Kharkiv citizens found the nestling on the earth and mistakenly thought that the bird was in trouble. People often confuse fledglings with abandoned nestlings: the birds sit alone in the grass and piteously call to their parents. At this moment they take their first life exam: learn to fly independently. Mother and father are usually nearby, watching the child from the right distance. Only if the nestling is injured, doesn’t get on feet or is weak to stand and falls. In this case it is possible to speak about a problem — the bird will really need help, the specialists emphasize.
