The happy event happened in the family of black-and-white ruffed lemurs of the Feldman Ecopark: three wonderful babies were born. The Ecopark’s guests will be able to see these amazing representatives of exotic Madagascar in about a couple of weeks, the workers wait for a warm weather to become stable in order to move the family to summer enclosure.
“Unfortunately, black-and-white ruffed lemurs are currently threatened by a critical danger: they are on the verge of extinction. That is why, the reproduction of these species is not just a great gladness, but also a huge contribution of the Feldman Ecopark into the preservation of these amazing creatures,” Anna Zhukovska, the Ecopark’s veterinarian told.
According to the vets, the babies feel good now: they are very active, like to play and, the main thing, they eat well. In addition to mother’s milk, lemurs don’t disregard fruits.
It should be noted that in addition to black-and-white ruffed lemurs, the strepsirrhines of the Feldman Ecopark are represent also ring-tailed lemurs and pygmy slow loris.
It should be reminded that Feldman Ecopark has the biggest collection of primates in Ukraine – according to the latest estimations, their number is over 180 animals of 30 species. Feldman Ecopark is a home for over 2,000 primates, predators, reptiles, ungulates, birds and other animals.
