One June 21, the children’s practical programme “Knowledge and skills shaping for safe behaviour and necessary assistance” within the framework of the Summer Security School “Help! Rescue! Prevent!” was carried out in the territory of the Regional Landscape Park. The organizers of the school are Kharkiv Regional Children’s Library in association with the Department of Culture and Tourism under Kharkiv Regional Administration.
“The schoolchildren from Kharkiv oblast and the participants of the round-table conference arranged within the summer school arrived in Ecopark today. Among those who arrived are the workers of children’s libraries of all regions of our oblast, and Donetsk, Luhansk, Ternopil and other oblasts of Ukraine,” the head of the PR sector of Kharkiv Regional Children’s Library Natalia Salina told. “Here, everyone is able to learn the means of civil protection of the population. The special services will demonstrate and tell how to behave in emergency situations before the rescuers arrive. It is expected that after the practical training, the adult audience will transfer this important information to children in regional libraries.”
The fascinating quests for the participants of the Summer Security School – children from Kharkiv, Bohodukhiv, Lozova, Chuhuiv, Zmiiv – were prepared. The children obtained a unique chance to look into the world of rescuers and even to join the special services. They were able to sit in police car and fire-engine, as well as in ambulance car, and to try on their uniform. The operation of hydraulic equipment, vacuum stretcher, the search of dangerously explosive objects, the use of fire extinguishers, the first medical care – the students were able not only to listen to this on the special lectures but also to watch it in practice on the main location of Ecopark. The children were able to watch the peculiarities of work of the departments of the Main Administration of the State Emergency Service in Kharkiv Oblast, Kharkivoblenergo JSC, Kharkiv Municipal Search and Rescue Service, the Centre for urgent medical aid and emergency medicine.
After the practical quest, all the participants were able to make a walking-tour along Feldman Ecopark and to eat hot porridge cooked on fire. Moreover, the special comfortable transport was provided to the guests to be able to arrive in Kharkiv.
“We love Ecopark and the beauty of its territory, and we want to share this with the guests. The colleagues from all corners of Ukraine often visit us, and first thing we do when showing city’s sights to them is the excursion to Ecopark, where it is always comfortable and cosy,” the school’s organizer added.
