This Saturday, January 21, Feldman Ecopark together with the Regional Station of Young Tourists is going to hold the first orienteering competitions this year. More than 400 schoolchildren from 17 regions of Kharkiv oblast will try their hand on ski routes of the Regional Landscape Park. The participants are aged 14-18. Moreover, the event will give everyone an opportunity to take part in the enthralling O-Quest with the orienteering elements in the territory of Feldman Ecopark.
“It is a new winter stage of an open championship “My Eco-path,” and we hope it will become as popular as the traditional competitions held in autumn and spring. It is possible to practise orienteering all the year round, as cold and snowy weather only widens opportunities for the competitions. Frost and snowdrifts is not an obstacle for active leisure, and it is an additional reason to go outdoors and practise the favourite sport,” the organizers of the event say.
It should be reminded that Feldman Ecopark started to develop orienteering in 2015 as a part of the 1,000 Teams Tournament. The Orienteering Festival takes place here twice a year, and nearly 50,000 residents of Kharkiv and Kharkiv oblast took part in it. Within the implementation of the My Eco-path programme, it is planned to establish the International Orienteering Centre and to develop the network of groups at the premises of comprehensive schools.
