The lessons for the students of the Kharkiv State Zooveterinary Academy are given in the Feldman Ecopark now.
The students of the 4th year of education of the Department of biotechnology and nature management (“Hunting sector” speciality, “Forest and park and garden sector” field) attend lectures read by the animal care specialists of the Regional landscape park, supporting their theoretical knowledge by practical skills.
“The future foresters, hunters, game manager come to us. All of them must study the biodiversity of Ukrainian forests in details. It is not enough to draw the theoretical information from the books and the Internet. They need practice, and the nature may tell much more,” the Feldman Ecopark deputy director of zootechnic issues Valeriia Ivashchenko tells. “We provide students with the opportunity to know animals better, especially those ones, the populations of which they will have to control due to their futures profession. These issues include the animals’ life-style, the periods and the ways of reproduction, the dangers they may encounter and the possible assistance in different situations.”
It should be noted that within the educational practical program, the students of the Academy not only watch animals, they also help the workers of the Ecopark to look after the animals.
