The unusual inhabitant of impressive sizes – 150 kilogram domestic boar Venia lodged in the Feldman Ecopark. The Kharkiv citizen bought it as a small “decorative” pig. Later, the young boar ate well and grew fast – soon it became difficult to keep it in house. As “to let the friend on lard and bacon” was the last thing the owner wished to do, he decided to find Venia the new spacious, cozy, and, above all kind dwelling. The man chose the Feldman Ecopark, knowing that nothing will threaten his pet here, the housing conditions are excellent and the company is cheerful here.
“The man wanted Venia to communicate with other animals and to find a bride in the future as it is quite healthy 3-year-old boar. In the Ecopark the boar stays in the big shady open enclosure together with Lamancha goats, Zebu cows, nearby the deer. We often do mixed zoo-expositions – it is interesting for the visitors and it isn’t boring for our animals, it enriches their home area. We can also find here a wild hog Masha – the animals have already got acquainted, walk together and, perhaps, they will have a posterity in the future” — Valeriia Ivashchenko, the Feldman Ecopark’s deputy director for zootechnics told.
According to her, various pets – goats, sheep, pigs are often transferred to the Feldman Ecopark. The last, by the way, in the Regional Landscape Park’s zoo collection already nearly three tens – more than 20 Vietnamese pigs, 2 wild boars from the Dnipro zoo area, already mentioned wild hog Masha and also Venia.
“People know about our Service for Wild, Exotic and Domestic Animals Rescue “Feldman Ecopark Good Home” and ask to salve their pets. Perhaps, they initially bought them not for humane reasons, but then after long time joint growing, the owners began treating their pets as family members and now they don’t have the heart to kill them. So they call to the Ecopark: ask to take away or bring the animals. People know that the animal won’t be eaten, it will be fed, well cared and trained to play with children. We try to accept all the pets for people to have a humane alternative for those whom they have tamed” — Valeriia Ivashchenko emphasized.
