Two young females of the most northern representatives of the Cervidae family arrived to the Social and Humanitarian Multi-Complex Feldman Ecopark from the Czech Republic.
Appearance in the animal collection of Feldman Ecopark of such animals, unusual to our latitudes, became possible thanks to cooperation with a local zoo of the city of Brno (ZOO Brno.)
“That’s two yearling reindeer females. In spite of the distant way from the Czech city of Brno, animals feel well and stay in the enclosure where visitors can observe them” — the specialists of Feldman Ecopark report.
The reindeer inhabits the most northern regions of Europe, Asia and North America and the islands of the Arctic Ocean, as well. Animals meet both in the wild nature, and cultivated in farms of reindeer breeders. Exactly thanks to a reindeer as the important biological resource, the person managed to master extensive spaces of Far North. Reindeers are the only representatives of the family where not only males, but also females have horns. Unossified reindeer horns, the antlers, are known for their medicinal properties and are used in traditional and official medicine.
