The veterinarians of the Feldman Ecopark nurse the new feathered patient that was brought by the residents of Vovchansk (Kharkiv oblast). People who had found a small and emaciated stork tried to set the bird on its feet. But the process of treatment took longer than expected. A family took care of the bird’s health in their summer cottage, but when it was time to go back to the city, they understood that their apartment would be too small for a freedom-loving friend. So, the family decided to address the All-Ukrainian Service for Wild, Exotic and Domestic Animals Rescue “Feldman Ecopark Good Home”, and its workers brought the bird to Kharkiv immediately.
“According to our assessment, it is a young stork about three months old,” Volodymyr Perekhodovych, the head of birds sector of the Feldman Ecopark says. “We are going to provide this bird with a shelter till spring, while its other congeners hibernate in the south. The skilled specialists will watch over the bird’s health. In spring we will release it to the freedom together with the other storks, which undergo rehabilitation as well.”
A new resident is currently getting accustomed to the territory very well, they tell in the Feldman Ecopark. The stork is not placed into the enclosure, and it walks freely over the territory of the Ecopark, remaining under the twenty-four-hour surveillance of the animal care workers. They feed a new one with fish and meet several times a day. With the beginning of the cold weather, the stork will be settled in a heated poultry yard.
It should be noted that there are 10 storks, which undergo treatment and rehabilitation in the Feldman Ecopark. The birds were brought here by volunteers and other compassionate people. The birds, which will not be able to fly with their congeners in spring, will stay in the Feldman Ecopark to live in the picturesque place near Swan Lake.
