Special children from Poltavshchyna visited Feldman Ecopark

The guests from the Centre for Social Rehabilitation of children with disabilities of the city of Myrgorod (Poltava oblast) visited Social and Humanitarian Multi-Complex. They saw numerous animals of Feldman Ecopark, admired floristic compositions from chrysanthemums and visited the Horse Complex. The participation in Eco-therapy lessons of the Centre for Psychosocial Rehabilitation became the main event for the children and adults.

“We’ve shown a part of our work: our dogs therapists, a donkey used in an animal-assisted therapy. In addition, we took exercises together, played and tried art therapy. It is the usual introduction programme for new children groups. The aim of animal-assisted therapy is removal of emotional pressure, establishment of social communication and friendly relationship. Dogs and donkeys are the best assistants here. The subsequent game and creative phase strengthen relations in situational collective, and a small teamwork finishes the lesson. All of us together created “A dream tree” with hand carved and decorated wish leaves” — the children’s psychologist of the Centre for Psychosocial Rehabilitation Feldman Ecopark Iryna Kurtyshova told.

According to the director of the Centre for Psychosocial Rehabilitation Feldman Ecopark of children with disabilities of the city of Myrgorod Valentina Sivachenko, it was very interesting and useful experience.

“It is a real sample of the European park in Ukraine – there is a wish to come again and again. Such positive experience is especially important for our children. Nature walks, communication with various animals, teamwork in the form of game are just those elements of socialization, which are necessary to them. We plan to stay in Feldman Ecopark as often as possible” — Valentina Sivachenko shared impressions.

It should be reminded that the Centre for Psychosocial Rehabilitation Feldman Ecopark cooperates with different organizations assisting children with special needs, in particular, with the Rehabilitation Centre for Disabled Children “Promin”, the Kharkiv Centre for Psychological Rehabilitation of Children, the V.G. Korolenko Special Educational Complex etc.
