Last weekend, in the Regional Landscape Park revived New Year’s folk traditions: told fortunes, caroled, said good-bye to the Rooster, a symbol of the bygone year and met the Dog, a symbol of the due year.
On Saturday, the visitors of the Feldman Ecopark were met by Father Christmas in absolutely unusual role. It turns out that the winter wizard is a great chess and checkers player. Thus, everyone was able to check the skills by playing with him.
On Sunday, the Rooster on stilts congratulated Feldman Ecopark’s visitors with the Old New Year, strewing all comers with grain singing “Hark! How the bells, sweet silver bells, all seem to say throw cares away”. At the main location, Father Christmas, the Rooster, the Dog and the Christmas Tree waited for the guests, inviting to participate in the Christmas game program “That’s fantastic!”.
Cheerful competitions poured from a wonderful sieve, participating in which, everyone was able to show the talent or skill, to see the future and to sing the New Year’s song in the cheerful company.
Participants of the competition “Like I decorate my broom, so my year will bloom!” carried out a joky folk ceremony of broom decoration, and the audience chose winners. The unusual ability to carry peas was required from those who joined the competition “Look out of the window to get some peas!”. At parting the departing year, the cheerful ceremony (fortune-telling with a rooster) was carried out by bringing rooster indoors as guessed in Ukraine. The participants were explained that earlier it was considered that if the Rooster goes to a bucket with water, then the year would be rich with new events and acquaintances. If it goes to a bowl with grain, the year will be nourishing and fruitful. If the Rooster goes to coins, the year will be profitable and successful. If it goes to a basket, the family should wait for addition and if the Rooster goes to the Chicken, it means the fulfilment of dreams for those wishing to get married. In the karaoke competition “Bow-Wow” the participants sang New Year’s songs, bearing in mind that the year of a dog came.
Sunday visitors of the Feldman Ecopark were able to pay a visit to Vakula, the smith where everyone received opportunity to mint own coin of happiness for the participation in cheerful competitions and thus to become the architect of their own happiness.
“From time immemorial, the meeting of New Year was accompanied by various fortune-telling and ceremonies which had to bring good luck in the future. The Old New Year is an excellent opportunity to remember these traditions and to re-create them in the conditions of common feast and fun. Certainly, our predictions for visitors of the Feldman Ecopark promise nothing but good in the new year with approach of which we congratulate everyone once again” — the organizers of an entertainment program tell.
Specially for the holiday, completing the New Year’s Christmas series the intermediate age team “The ABC of Nature” in the Theatre of Children and Animals presented a premiere of the performance “The Flower with Many Colours.”
