St. John the Baptist’s Day celebrated in Feldman Ecopark

Last weekend was devoted to the East Slavic holiday of summer solstice or the St. John the Baptist’s Day, the guests of the Social and Humanitarian Multi-Complex weaved wreaths, took part in festive round dances with cheerful evil spirits and participated in St. John the Baptist quest.

Nixie, Mermaid, Sun, Baba Yaga, Imps and a Puck, the characters of Slavic legends linked to the St. John the Baptist’s Day met the visitors to Feldman Ecopark. All of them were heroes of the game programme “On a St. John the Baptist’s Day” that included weaving of wreaths, water games and an exciting water disco as well as a round dance, where participants were ranked in a picturesque festive train and invited everyone to participate in St. John the Baptist quest while moving along Feldman Ecopark’s paths. Then every folklore character placed on one of festive quest’s locations.

Small teams which decided to overcome evil spirits intrigues by taking part in St. John the Baptist quest, were able to have fun and to receive a memento souvenir from Feldman Ecopark. At the starting line, they received itinerary list with five locations scattered across the territory of the Feldman Ecopark. Successful performing of a task in this or that location was noted in the itinerary list. Existence of marks from all locations was a requirement for quest completion.
Everyone was able to become a fairy character, having visited a thematic photo zone and being pictured in festive wreaths. Girls were offered to become mermaids, while boys were able to put on an image of a forest master.

On St. John the Baptist’s Day, the Feldman Ecopark received long-awaited guests from the Association of Large Families “AMMA”. Children from large families and disabled children as well as employees of the National Guard of Ukraine (more than 40 children and about 30 guardsmen.) They became active participants of festive programme from our animation group Feldman Ecopark, were able to go riding in the Horse Complex and to eat delicious porridge cooked on fire.
“We are very thankful for a festive programme prepared for us. Everyone enjoyed it. Many guardsmen came to serve in the national defence service from afar, from the Western Ukraine. According to them, they couldn’t even imagine such wonderful place to exist in Kharkiv. Because of St. John the Baptist’s Day holiday, all together weaved wreaths and sailed them on the lake, we called this event “The way our guardsmen celebrated St. John the Baptist’s Day”. We are grateful to Feldman Ecopark for today’s holiday. Oleksandr Feldman Foundation always lend assistance and willingly supports our initiatives” — the president of the Association of Large Families “AMMA” Yuliia Ibrahim tells.

Besides, the Theatre of Children and Animals prepared a thematic performance “St. John the Baptist’s Day” devoted to the holiday well known since the dawn of time. As usual, classical music sounded in the pavilion at the Swan Lake and young musicians performed at the improvised picture gallery within the campaign “The Art of Mercy”. An open-air art studio, a location with board games and a run bikes rental continue to work. Moreover, our professionals will teach lots of interesting and useful on master classes.
