This weekend, on November 11-12, the Tit’s Day, a holiday devoted to frost birds wintering closer to people will take place in Feldman Ecopark.
According to organizers of the event, the Ecopark’s guests will be able to make and hang out handmade birdfeeders. “It’s not necessarily to make wooden birdfeeders for titmouse and other birds – much more interesting and useful to create edible ones – for example, from the hollowed part of pumpkin or orange, bread crusts which is possible to fill up with grain or sunflower seeds. Such birdfeeders will be twice useful to birds and that’s fun and easy to create them” — the organizers told. Such preparation for meeting of “winter guests”, the birds wintering in our corner of the world: titmouse, goldfinches, bullfinches, jays, redpolls, waxwings, has deep traditions. Since ancient times people considered that for the Zenobius Titmouse holiday which falls on November 12 in the Eastern Orthodox liturgical calendar, the titmouse, anticipating cold weather, flew from the forests closer to human housings and waited for the help.
Except production of birdfeeders, the guests of the Regional Landscape Park will be able to participate in the thematic competitions, game programmes and master classes devoted to the wintering birds.
It should be reminded, that Eat&Fly challenge, directed to draw attention to problems of the birds wintering in Ukraine was held in Feldman Ecopark last year. More than 3,5 thousand people both from Kharkiv and other regions of Ukraine, including journalists, bloggers, volunteers, employees of various educational institutions and charity organizations, school and university students became participants of the kindness relay. The participants of a challenge had to make creative birdfeeders, to hang them out, to make a picture against the background of the birdfeeder, to place a photo in social networks and to throw down a challenge to others. Those who satisfied these conditions received a creative gift from the Feldman Ecopark – a bright cup.
