Despite dull weather, last weekend was full of various bright events and cheerful holidays – Mother’s Day, International Day of Families and Lag BaOmer were celebrated in the Regional Landscape Park.
The festivities devoted to the important Jewish holiday of Lag BaOmer rightly became the central event of Sunday. This day, many representatives of Kharkiv Regional United Jewish Community, the students of Jewish educational institutions and the guests from different regions of Ukraine gathered in Feldman Ecopark. According to the traditions, they walked along the central path of Ecopark with bright posters and accompanied with the wind band and drummers. They also said a prayer, watched the performances of singers and dancers, and after that kindled a traditional festive bonfire.
“Feldman Ecopark is a territory of love, tolerance and mutual respect. We celebrate the holidays of all religions and nations here,” the president of Kharkiv Regional United Jewish Community, Ukrainian MP Oleksandr Feldman emphasized speaking to the participants of the event. “It is common to have fun on Lag BaOmer, so I hope that it will be a day to remember for everyone, especially for the children who gathered here.”
Moreover, the special programme for the Day of Families and Mother’s Day was prepared for the visitors of Ecopark. It included the performances of musicians, the chorus of Krasnokutsk Territorial Centre “Obrii”, the shows performed by the Horse Complex and the Theatre of Children and Animals, as well as the game programme for the little ones to be able to congratulate their mothers cheerfully and creatively: they drew cards, wrote verses, competed in active contests and dance marathons. Everyone was also able to learn stilt walking and powerbocking.
The visitors of the Regional Landscape Park on May 14 also included the group of guests who arrived in Ecopark from ATO Zone to have a rest. The special excursion was prepared for 80 residents of Sloviansk, including 40 children. It included the performances of the Zoo-theatre, Horse Complex and the Club of Young Cynologists. They were also treated to hot porridge. “We’ve found out about Feldman Ecopark accidentally, in the Internet, where we read that one of the most beautiful parks in Europe is situated in Kharkiv. And that’s true. We received a hospitable welcome, and it’s really like in heaven here! Animals are walking here freely, it is possible to touch them and communicate with them safely, even with big pigs, which seemed to be dangerous animals. There are a lot of pleasant sheltered nooks, professional guides, interesting performances here,” the organizer of the tour, English teacher Oksana Pohorielova noted.
