Feldman Ecopark Good Home teaches how to be real volunteers

Feldman Ecopark Good Home, the All-Ukrainian Service for Wild, Exotic and Domestic Animals Rescue, gives lectures for the students of Kharkiv educational institutions. Recently, Iryna Podvoiska, the head of the Service has met with the students of the Kharkiv Cooperative College of Trade and Economics in order to share her own experience as a volunteer using the example of the many years of work of the Good Home.

“We know that students are people, which are always looking for their place in the world. Many of them want to get the valuable experience, which will be useful in the future professional development. We propose them to learn something about volunteering, the area of activity opening new opportunities for a person,” Iryna Podvoiska told. “In our case, it is a work with animals and their further settlement: it is a wonderful school of goodness, tolerance, understanding and self-education. The refinements of zoology, the ability to treat animals and provide the first aid, the assisting to veterinarians, the basic knowledge of PR-manager – this is only the incomplete list of things, which may be learned by young specialists being volunteer animal rights activists.”

After the lecture, the students took part in the interactive game: they tried to settle their first animal. Despite the fact that the students had to rescue a stuffed dog, the plan of actions was implemented according to the real scenario: they learned animal evacuation rules, its transportation and handing to specialists. They also examined animal settlement plan: the organization of photo shoot and publishing of information on the proper Internet resources.

It should be noted that in addition to lectures for students, the representatives of the Feldman Ecopark Good Home, the All-Ukrainian Service for Wild, Exotic and Domestic Animals Rescue give lessons of goodness for the city schoolchildren teaching to treat pets properly. The specialists of the Ecopark also give children bright educative booklets to learn the material better.
