Candidate of Biology, the head of the Centre of Cheiroptera Rehabilitation of the Feldman Ecopark, , Anton Vlashchenko visited Belarus where he on the basis of the specialized ecological camp “Researcher” carried out field classes about bats for the young naturalists of the Gomel State Regional Ecological and Biological Centre for Children and Youth.
The head of the Centre of Cheiroptera Rehabilitation made the presentation about the directions of the Centre’s activities and the common presentation about bats. In the evening the excursion to the floodplain of the river Tserukha has been conducted. During the excursion mist nets for catching bats and ultrasonic detectors for remote acoustic methods of bat researches have been shown.
“Cooperation of the Centre of Cheiroptera Rehabilitation of the Feldman Ecopark with the Belarusian zoologists has been started in 2014 and successfully continues to this day. Following the results of this seminar many young naturalists have become interested in work on rescue and rehabilitation of bats. We hope that shortly the Centre, similar to ours, will appear also in the city of Gomel” — Anton Vlashchenko emphasized.
It should be noted that bat rescue and rehabilitation programme is implemented in Feldman Ecopark since 2013. During the time of its existence, the Centre of Cheiroptera Rehabilitation rescued the lives of 5,000 Red List animals. This summer, within the development of international cooperation the Centre’s specialists presented the results of their work in Poland and Germany and also published them in the scientific journal in Turkey
