Before the World Autism Awareness Day, Feldman Ecopark Centre for Psychosocial Rehabilitation has prepared the discussion for children’s health specialists, which will be held on April 2.
The head of the medical service of the Centre for Psychosocial Rehabilitation Inna Vashkite told that the project “Autism and Mutual Understanding” proposes lectures and theoretical lessons with the participation of specialists of the psychotherapy department of the therapeutic faculty under Kharkiv Medical Academy of Post-graduate Education. Moreover, Feldman Ecopark Centre for Psychosocial Rehabilitation will also give practical lessons.
“The participants of the discussion, pediatricians and other specialists, who work with children, will get practical recommendations on communication and interaction with little patients with autistic disorder. The project is called “Autism and Mutual Understanding,” because, among other things, its programme is also focused on the peculiarities of social adaptation and the problems of tolerant attitude to children with autism in the society,” Inna Vashkite emphasized.
World Autism Awareness Day was established by the United Nations General Assembly on December 18, 2007 and is observed on April 2 every year. The UN General Assembly resolution draws attention to the problem of children’s autism expressing concern over the high share of children with autistic disorder. The General Assembly urges to take all measures to raise public awareness of the problems of children with autistic problems.
It should be reminded that the Centre for Psychosocial Rehabilitation was established in Feldman Ecopark in 2013. It renders assistance to children and adults including the families of IDPs and ATO veterans. Since its opening, 6,300 persons including 1,900 children underwent rehabilitation in the Centre.
