The specialists of Feldman Ecopark Centre for Psychosocial Rehabilitation carried out an induction lesson with children in need of assistance from Kharkiv Children’s Psychological Rehabilitation Centre on September 27. It is expected that the lessons including animal-assisted therapy lessons will be conducted on a regular basis.
The first lesson with the specialists of the Centre for Psychosocial Rehabilitation started with the tour of the Social and Humanitarian Multi-Complex. In addition, the group of 15 school-age children visited the petting zoo and the Horse Complex. The induction lesson included acquaintance and minor diagnostics. Moreover, children met therapy animals as well.
“The task of the introductory lesson is to define the nature of psychological assistance for children – whether it is connected with emotional oppression, communication problems or something else. Moreover, dogs and donkeys were present at the lessons. The animals will help to conduct animal-assisted therapy lessons. After the analysis of the results of the first meeting, we will be able to define the specific nature of our next lessons,” child psychologist of the Centre for Psychosocial Rehabilitation Iryna Kurtyshova told.
Feldman Ecopark Centre for Psychosocial Rehabilitation also informed that the cooperation with Kharkiv Children’s Psychological Rehabilitation Centre would be constant. It is planned to form three age groups out of 35 children, who are currently under the care of the Centre: preschoolers, junior and senior schoolchildren will attend the lessons with Feldman Ecopark’s specialists once a week.
It should be reminded that Feldman Ecopark Centre for Psychosocial Rehabilitation carries out an extensive work aimed at the assistance and support for children and adults. In particular, this year, the Centre started to carry out off-site lessons within the framework of the project “Kindness Lessons.” These lessons are conducted in special children’s educational institutions with the participation of therapy dogs.
