The specialists of the Centre for Psychosocial Rehabilitation of Feldman Ecopark wished happy Saint Nicholas Day to the children from the Centre for Social and Psychological Rehabilitation of Kharkiv Children. They have arranged the holiday with entertainers, developing games, art-therapy elements, interesting stories about New Year and Christmas traditions, and, of course, presents.
The head of psychological service of the Centre for Psychosocial Rehabilitation of Feldman Ecopark Tetiana Aliieva tells that they visited children who had faced difficult life circumstances and who need psychological support. The parents of many children are temporary deprived of parental rights and their further destiny remains undefined.
“They may find temporary home in the orphanage, be adopted or return to their families. It is a very difficult psychological situation requiring a careful professional assistance. That is why we arrived to talk to the children about traditions, holidays, family, and friendship with the help of art therapy,” Tetiana Aliieva told. “By making present for close people together, we learnt how to create holiday mood and discussed what is the most important in the life of each person.”
The children from the Centre for Social and Psychological Rehabilitation of Kharkiv Children together with the visitors from Feldman Ecopark created New Year’s cards, which they presented to each other later. The holiday combined with art therapy ended with sweet treats and presents from Saint Nicholas.
It should be reminded that the Centre for Psychosocial Rehabilitation was opened in the Social and Humanitarian Multi-Complex in 2013. It renders assistance to children and adults, including the families of IDPs and the ATO veterans.
The unique component of the Centre’s work is the method of eco-therapy, which uses therapeutic influence of communication with the nature and animals, as well as creative work.
