This weekend, you don’t need to make a thousand-kilometre flight to watch how the New Year is celebrated in China, because Feldman Ecopark offers the guests to plunge into the mysterious atmosphere of an eastern holiday on January 28-29. An entertaining programme includes the most unusual and interesting traditions of tianxia: the visitors will be able to try unusual fortune-telling, to dance in company of the ex-protector of the year, the Monkey, and the new protector and the main symbol of the new year, the Rooster, and also to meet an important character of Chinese mythology, a beast called the Nian.
“The Nian’s appearing before the audience will be the key scene of the holiday,” the organizers say. “There just can’t be the New Year in China without this mythical character. According to the legend, this beast, living in the abyss of the sea, comes out from the water before the holiday. Only red colour is able to scare away the monster. That’s why this colour is used to decorate the streets, houses and clothes. Moreover, according to the Chinese, red colour especially attracts good luck during this period.” Feldman Ecopark offers to join this tradition, and asks the guests to have any red element in their suits. In turn, the decorators of Ecopark will take care of the decoration of locations: the visitors will be surprised by bright photo zones and interesting compositions made of Chinese paper lanterns.
Another interesting and fascinating part of the eastern holiday celebration will be the communication with the living personification of the year’s protector, the Rooster. The visitors will be offered to feed the feathered singer. The meeting with the rooster is planned for Sunday noon at the main location of Feldman Ecopark.
The weekend programme also includes snowy mini-disco (open-air dances), quiz with prizes and active games for the smallest guests.
