The new project of the zoo development within the Feldman Ecopark complex will be presented at the Annual Conference of the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA) that will take place this week in Belfast (Northern Ireland).
It should be noted that this spring, the Feldman Ecopark has already got the CFM status at EAZA by a majority vote.
“The CFM status means that the next stage is a membership,” the Feldman Ecopark’s director Andriy Roshchupkin notes. “The Ecopark has a zoo of completely new type. Perhaps, it is the first similar zoo not only in Ukraine, but also in the world. At the same time, it develops according to EAZA’s regulations. This provides more opportunities not only for the exchange of animals with the zoos of Europe and the world, but also for the cooperation and experience sharing with the best European and other specialists.”
According to Andriy Roshchupkin, rehabilitation – the social, medical, and psychological one – is the main mission of the Ecopark as of today.
“Our animals are unique, we train them as therapists. Our zoo collection is developed based on the needs in rendering medical and psychological assistance to people,” the Feldman Ecopark’s director explained.
“It is very important that Kharkiv zoo to follow our way. Its delegation also takes part in the EAZA Conference,” Andriy Roshchupkin added.
It should be reminded that according to Kharkiv mass media, the delegation representing Kharkiv zoo at EAZA Conference consists of City Council officials and the workers of the zoo.
