About a month ago a little unusual newcomers – the family of donkeys lodged in Feldman Eсopark. The main feature of Moisey, Yurta and their kid Funtik that they together with other animals were transported to Kharkiv from the closed zoo zone of Dnieper. The tailed big-eared guests were placed in spacious shelters near the Horse Complex of the Ecopark.
After moving the life of four-footed family strikingly changed: instead of habitual open enclosures of a zoozone animals appeared in a real wood, among shady paths of the Ekopark, surrounded by other inhabitants, careful keepers and friendly guests.
“Donkeys arrived to us absolutely healthy and transferred moving well, – the head of humanitarian projects Feldman Ecopark Irina Yavorskaya tells. – The word “surprise” is the best to describe their condition after arrival in the Ecopark. Here everything drew their attention: other animals, people, and sounds. But they adapted very quickly and made friends with other relatives”.
Donkeys not just live in the Ecopark, they actively communicate with people, the young naturalists are regularly taking care of them, training animals in interaction with the person.
“We feed and comb them out, we learn to execute commands: “to embrace”, “to give a leg”, “smiling”, “ranch”, – the young naturalists Nastya and Rada tell, showing ingenuity of the new pupils. Donkeys with pleasure make contact with the person, easily study and already became general favorites thanks to the cheerful and playful nature. The young naturalists often take the animals to lakes for a walk. In an apple garden, near the Horse Complex, children gather ripe fruit which donkeys bring to the Ecopark for treat of other inhabitants.
In few months of successful trainings with the young naturalists donkeys will be able to perform in the Theatre of Children and Animals for the first time. The keepers also plan to involve new animals in asinus-therapy with children with special needs.
For winter time special shelters – stalls will be built for donkeys. The Ecopark’s employees hope that next year there will be a new replenishment the family of donkeys.
