A diademed, or blue monkey found home in the Feldman Ecopark. A new resident is only a year and a half old. All visitors of the Ecopark will be able to see this African handsome animal, it shares the enclosure located on the main path with two other congeners.
“Despite the tender age, a boy is sociable, playful and not a bit shy. It spends time with pleasure not only with animal care workers: the primate has been immediately accepted by the group of locals, who actively examine it, play and even care of each other,” the Feldman Ecopark deputy director of zootechnic issues Valeriia Ivashchenko told. “In order the primates were not bored, they were provided with not just a large enclosure, but also with artificial lianas and many toys in it.”
A kid has undergone all necessary medical procedures, the Ecopark’s specialists say. Moreover, the special diet has already been formed for a young primate to help a growing organism to obtain all necessary nutrients. A marmoset gets fruits, vegetables, cereals, meat, curds and fish.
It should be noted that a diademed monkey is a bright representative of the African fauna. This monkey got such a majestic name due to its appearance: its thick hair edges the head creating the effect of a crown. The other distinctive features include blue hair on the breast and snow-white whiskers. These monkeys usually live in groups consisting of 6 to 30, and sometimes even up to 200 animals.
It should be reminded that the Feldman Ecopark has the largest collection of primates in Ukraine. More than 200 monkeys of 30 species live here.
