Petting yard of a new format opened in Feldman Ecopark

It is possible not only to stroke or feed lovely cubs of animals and birds in the offspring ground which started to work last Sunday in the territory of the Rabbit Farm in Feldman Ecopark. Here you’ll be taught how to communicate with young animals not to tire and to frighten them; you will be shown that different species are capable to get on together.

The new offspring ground gathered a baby rabbit, couples of kittens, chickens, gooses, ducklings in one enclosure and will serve on a full-time basis.

“As a rule, ordinary idea of a contact zoo is to catch up, to touch, to feed the resolved forage and to take photos of an animal. No one ever thinks that dumb animals suffer stress in such situations. We want to instill absolutely other habit of behaving in this location both in the children and adults. Here, first of all, we teach to watch animals, to communicate with them, we tell about the features of the species presented here, individual habits of each representative. Certainly, we understand that animals will grow and we hope that being brought up in our petting yard, they will not only become tame and will welcome guests, but we want also want our pets to teach the small visitors”, –  the head of Feldman Ecopark’s humanitarian programmes Iryna Yavorska tells.

Now the new petting yard works generally for summer camps but since September all visitors of the Feldman Ecopark will be able to get acquainted with pretty inhabitants of the offspring ground.

It should be reminded that the Rabbit Farm opened at the beginning of summer in Feldman Ecopark. Along with Forest School and Pony Farm, the Rabbit Farm is one of the Summer Camp’s innovations this season. The pupils of the Club of Young Naturalists take care of fluffy representatives living on the farm and give excursion lessons.
