The Biathlon Championship of the Kharkiv region among young people held under the patronage of the International Charitable Foundation “Oleksandr Feldman Foundation” took place in the Social and Humanitarian Multi-Complex on Saturday, June 9. The first place in team classification was taken by the team of Feldman Ecopark Ski and Biathlon Club.
95 people from six teams in three age categories (children born in 2004-05, children born in 2006-07, children born in 2008 and younger) competed in cross-country and shooting for the top-rank title of the region. Passing a distance, the youngest biathlonists came to a shooting range once, while the older participants – twice. The shooting took place from prone lying position using special easy air rifles.
“For the first time in two decades such competitions took place in the Kharkiv region. They show revival of biathlon and interest in this wonderful sport. We managed to organize everything at the highest level and the head of the State Centre for Olympic Training Vyacheslav Derkach confirmed this fact. He highly appreciated the level of training” — the head of the Feldman Ecopark Ski and Biathlon Club Svitlana Ilinskykh told.
The head coach of Ukraine National Biathlon Team Yevhenii Kolupaiev and the president of Biathlon Federation of Ukraine Volodymyr Brynzak became the honored guests of the Championship.
The top places of the team of Feldman Ecopark Ski and Biathlon Club were taken by Ann Tykhanovska who was second in the youngest group while her compeer Solomiia Shulga was third at a finishing point. She has also received a memorable prize from Biathlon Federation as the youngest athlete. Arsenii Casymyr took third place in the same group. In the middle age group, Oleksii Shyp was the second, as well as David Bessonov in the senior category.
Such high results brought the team of Feldman Ecopark Ski and Biathlon Club to the first place in the overall standing.
The organizers of the Tournament are the Social and Humanitarian Multi-Complex Feldman Ecopark and Biathlon Federation of the Kharkiv region. The competitions were held under the patronage of the International Charitable Foundation “Oleksandr Feldman Foundation” within the project 1,000 Teams Tournament on initiative of which the Feldman Ecopark Ski and Biathlon Club works since 2016.
