More than two hundred Donbas IDP children who live in Kharkiv and Kharkiv oblast took part in the holiday held in conjunction with the World Refugee Day in the Social and Humanitarian Multi-Complex Feldman Ecopark on June 17. The festive programme for children was organized in association with the UN Refugee Agency and under the assistance of the charitable foundations “Station Kharkiv” and “Right to Protection”.
Cheerful animation programme, funny performance “Clowns without borders” and a fascinating horse show as well as a porridge cooked on fire waited for small visitors to Feldman Ecopark.
Children were able to show their creative abilities, participating in painting competition as well as in master classes in stained glass painting, Petrykivka painting, bracelet plaiting, creation of foamiran ornaments and dreamcatchers.
“IDP children need special attention to adapt in new conditions. We’ve specially invited them to this event that they were able to have great time in nature. In the meantime, we want to draw attention to the problem to which the society mustn’t turn a blind eye as each citizen has the right for the safe place to live.” — the organizers emphasized.
The festive programme finished with the prize awarding ceremony for the winners of a painting competition and presents to those who have winning lottery-tickets.
The World Refugee Day initiated by the UN in 2000 is marked on June 20. The relevant resolution was adopted on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. The UNHCR works in Ukraine since 1994. Since 2014, the UNHCR closely cooperates with the government of Ukraine and the society in response to a new problem: 1,6 million IDP’s from the East of Ukraine and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
