The conference with this title took place today in the VREMIA Media Centre (72, Sumska Str.) The representatives of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the workers of the Feldman Ecopark, teachers and students of the Kharkiv State Zooveterinary Academy took part in it. The WWF’s coordinator in Ukraine Olena Tarasova-Krasiieva told about this big international nature conservation organization, its projects and directions of activity in Ukraine.
“The mission of our Fund is to form the future, in which human and nature are living in harmony. It may be achieved with the help of the Earth’s biodiversity conservation and sustainable use of its resources. Humanity must stop being wasteful and selfish,” Ms. Tarasova-Krasiieva emphasized in her speech. “It is necessary to learn to have smart attitude to the environment for the sake of own survival. That is why, so much attention and activity of the World Wildlife Fund is paid to educational and volunteer projects directed at young people first of all.”
In this connection she noted the ways of possible partnership of the WWF and the Feldman Ecopark in order to promote the modern principles of nature interpretation in Ukrainian society. The workers of the Regional Landscape Park in turn, told the counterparts about personal work in this field. Maryna Shkvyria, Cand. Sc. (Biology) in her report “The Role of Zoos in Biodiversity Conservation”, dwelled on the questions of application of the world’s experience in the activity of the Feldman Ecopark and the involvement of young people in it.
It should be reminded that the Regional Landscape Park has one of the most numerous in Ukraine Club of Young Naturalists. Starting from this year, it will officially provide the students of the Kharkiv State Zooveterinary Academy (the oldest institution of Ukraine in this field) with the possibility to undergo practical training.
