Feldman Ecopark starts the new year with the records in the field of nature conservation. According to the last estimates, during more than 5 years since opening of the Regional Landscape Park, more than 2,000 plants were bedded out, including 900 trees (525 coniferous and 375 leaf-bearing ones) and 1,200 shrubs (540 coniferous and 660 leaf-bearing ones).
“Feldman Ecopark’s priority is not only the maintenance of different species of animals, the populations of which significantly reduces in their natural environment. Huge efforts are also applied to the landscape projects as well. They include the flower balls, which became known across the country and abroad, and the so-called work of ‘invisible front:’ various trees and shrubs planting all over the territory of the Regional Landscape Park, which is carried out constantly, every season. Being the Ecopark, we are first of all concerned with the green lungs of our planet: we always try to find new solutions of making the favourite place for recreation of Ukrainians even greener and blooming. Therefore, we promise to multiply the number of events devoted to the vegetation of our country and the flora of the near abroad,” the director of Feldman Ecopark Andrii Roshchupkin commented.
According to the words of Andrii Roshchupkin, the vegetable diversity of Feldman Ecopark bears not only aesthetic, but also nature conservation function. The specialists of the Centre of Psychosocial Rehabilitation carry out their work here with IDPs, ATO soldiers, children with special needs and with behavioural, social and mental disorders, by applying absolutely new methods for Ukraine, like landscape therapy and garden therapy. The peace of natural atmosphere – the sounds, scents and colours – give good results in the process of rehabilitation, the Centre notes.
In addition, Feldman Ecopark’s flora is an integral part of educational process in the Children’s Ecology and Nature Study Academy, where more than 700 children learn to take care of the nature. Children constantly watch how various plantings grow and behave in different conditions (under human care and in wildlife), and study their influence on eco-system. The observational results are recorded by the beginning scientists, and later they write papers based on these studies and present them at different forums and competitions for children. Moreover, the kids take active part in planting of trees and shrubs in the Regional Landscape Park: together with their adult mentors, they plant different flowers, shrubs and trees. The last similar campaign took place in the end of October, 2016, when the path of a hundred evergreen thujas was planted.
It should be reminded that since its opening, Feldman Ecopark established a reputation as an organizer of Ukraine’s largest and free festival of flowers, the Chrysanthemum Ball. Every autumn, thousands of flowers bred by Ukrainian and West European breeders are planted in its territory. The skilled florists apply all their creative fantasy in order to demonstrate floral compositions to the guests in form of balmy sculptures. Last autumn, 30,000 bushes of chrysanthemums of 60 species were presented during the Chrysanthemum Ball of Feldman Ecopark. Moreover, the special parade of blooming beauties was also devoted to the messengers of spring, the tulips. At the beginning of the warm season, Ecopark traditionally gladdens the visitors with the diversity of tulips: over 200,000 flowers were planted last year.
