Feldman Ecopark took lynx for rehabilitation

Yana, the two-year old female lynx, became a new resident of Feldman Ecopark. The animal with minor injury was given to the Regional Landscape Park by a private zoo within the framework of the program of the Centre for Wild, Exotic and Domestic Animals Rescue “Feldman Ecopark Good Home.”

The animal is currently undergoing the rehabilitation course and getting used to the new spacious enclosure prepared specially for it. The visitors of Feldman Ecopark are already able to look at it there.

“The general state of our new pet is fine: it is almost healthy and will stay to live in Feldman Ecopark after the rehabilitation. Moreover, we have a couple for it – the male lynx that arrived in Feldman Ecopark from the Riga Zoo in the beginning of summer. Their enclosures are situated side by side for the animals to get used to each other. We hope that they will become a couple and we will make our contribution to the program of lynx population restoration,” Feldman Ecopark’s deputy director of zootechnics Valeriia Ivashchenko told.

The animal collection of Feldman Ecopark has 12 species of the feline family including two lynxes.

It should be reminded that since its opening, the Centre for Wild, Exotic and Domestic Animals Rescue “Feldman Ecopark Good Home,” rendered assistance to more than 22,000 animals, including nearly 4,000 of wild and exotic ones. The considerable part of the rescued animals has been returned to the nature. It is possible to obtain a competent advice and, in case of need, to call for the rescuers to help animals by using a free hotline of the Good Home (tel.: 0-800-302-303).
