Feldman Ecopark is sure that winter sports are accessible all the year round. The members of the Ski Club don’t need to wait for the first snow, as they already actively practise here. This new field of the 1,000 Teams Tournament project appeared not long ago, but it becomes more and more popular. The club consists of 30 children aged 6-14 trained by the cross-country skiing master of sports, the member of Ukrainian national team Svitlana Ilinskikh. The lessons are given three times a week, and they include not only skiing (roller skiing in summer), but also running, relay races, active games, and fitness. By the way, the young skiers participate not only in ski competitions.
“In October, the children from the Feldman Ecopark’s Ski Club took part in several track-and-field events and won top places. Our girls were the third in the traditional 69th Race of Patrols, and were the 1st, the 2nd and the 3rd in the Kharkiv oblast Cross-Country Skiing Championship. This Saturday, October 29, the track-and-field race “Golden Autumn” will take place in Kharkiv, and the team of our Club will participate in it,” Svitlana Ilinskikh told.
The main task of the Ski Club is the popularization of winter sports among the youth. For this purpose, the range of mass events and campaigns are planned for this winter. They include the World Snow Day and “Bring Children to snow.”
“The skiing lessons were held in every school formerly; thousands of children practised in sport clubs and went skiing at their leisure. There is nothing similar today. We want to revive the popularity of this prestigious (in Europe) winter sport, and to make it mass. We are going to create the conditions for the Feldman Ecopark’s Ski Club to develop in two directions simultaneously: as a centre for active winter rest for everyone, and as a real school for the future ski champions. Of course, children with special needs will not be disregarded. Special trainers and psychologists will work with them,” the director of the Feldman Ecopark Andrii Roshchupkin told.
The Ski Club has lessons three times a week: on Thursdays 4 p.m. to 6 p.m, and on Saturdays and Sundays 10 a.m. to 12 noon. It is possible to sign up calling the following numbers: 050-186-27-50, 063-432-44-36.
It should be noted that the 1,000 Teams Tournament unites different sports and recreational activities on the territory of the Feldman Ecopark. The programme includes training and competitions in futsal, ping-pong, volleyball, streetball, skiing, cycle race, cross-country run, different kinds of gymnastics, chess, and other kinds of sport.
