The traditional, sixth release of bats will take place in Feldman Ecopark on Saturday, April 14. This year, the specialists and volunteers of Feldman Ecopark’s Centre of Cheiroptera Rehabilitation, as well as everyone who wants to join them, will return to the natural habitat a record number of bats – more than 2,500 Red List animals rescued during winter.
“The release of bats rescued in Kharkiv and brought for rehabilitation from different regions of Ukraine takes place at sunset, and it is an unforgettable sight. These animals were rescued from death during winter; they were fed and placed for hibernation in special fridges. And now, with the beginning of spring, they are returned to the nature. Everyone is able to let these amazing animals fly for the first time after their hibernation – it is just necessary to bring gloves to do this,” the organizers tell.
The Saturday entertainments will be devoted to bats. The visitors to the Social and Humanitarian Multi-Complex will be able to take part in quick master classes prepared by the entertaining group allowing to create a souvenir “Little Bat,” game programme for kids “Children’s Hour,” a quiz for adults “What do you know about the bats?” and cheerful dances and competitions.
On Sunday, April 15, Feldman Ecopark invites everyone to cheerfully celebrate a wonderful music holiday – the World Rock-n-roll Day. A selfie with Elvis Presley and photos in bright musical photo zones, master classes in drumming for children and adults from the School of Rock, as well as quick master classes “Hobby Magic,” musical erudition demonstration at rock-quiz “Adult’s Hour,” game programmes and mini-disco for the little ones – all of these and much more will be waiting for the fans of good music in Feldman Ecopark. Moreover, everyone will be able to play board games, to attend open-air art studio, eco-arenas and the performance by the Theatre of Children and Animals devoted to the International Primrose Day.
It should be reminded that last year, the Centre carried out the fifth release of bats, when more than 500 animals flushed into the evening sky. Moreover, for the first time the bats were released outside Kharkiv – 400 animals, which were rescued in Zaporizhzhia and which underwent rehabilitation in Feldman Ecopark, were released on the island of Khortytsia. Ukraine’s first and only Centre of Cheiroptera Rehabilitation was opened in Feldman Ecopark in 2013. It combines the care of animals and the active scientific and educational work. During this time, the Centre rescued more than 10,000 representatives of different species of the order Cheiroptera.
