At the weekend, Feldman Ecopark dedicated its programs to understanding and kindness: most events were timed for the International day of people with vision disorders.
Guests of the Regional Landscape Park participated in topical contests and trainings: blindfolded, they assembled puzzle pictures, collected pyramids from various figures and guessed different objects by feel. All activities were aimed at developing understanding and ethical attitude towards people with special needs.
‘Feldman Ecopark implements on a regular basis a number of projects for people with special needs: individual excursions, psycho-social rehabilitation, and educational programs,’ told us a People’s Deputy of Ukraine and the founder of Feldman Ecopark Oleksandr Feldman. ‘Today is another occasion for us to pay attention to those who have lost, for a variety of reasons, the physical ability to see the world in the way we do. The task of an educated and tolerant society is to help the people who see with their hearts to feel more comfortable.’
Intentionally for the important date, workers of the Horse Complex held open excursions in the territory where the main ‘therapists’ of Feldman Ecopark live. Horses are primary participants of art, animal and hippo therapy given as a part of psycho-social rehabilitation of people with special needs. The visitors had the chance to pat and walk with the animals they liked, and if children wanted they could ride ponies.
The organizers have also prepared a kind family holiday for their guests, a Titmouse Day. According to an old tradition, people had to take care of the housing for non-migratory birds in this period, so visitors of Feldman Ecopark were busy building an installing feeding cups and winter shelters. Within the framework of the Birds’ Canteen event, children and adults filled these houses for the feathered beings with useful food. One could learn the rules of feeding wild birds in special illustration stands arranged along the main alley.
