Feldman Ecopark gives European otters to Israeli zoo

Today, December 24, the Feldman Ecopark will give a couple of European otters to the Israeli zoo “JerusalemBiblicalZoo”. The event will take place within the program of the free exchange of animals between zoos.

“In summer, we met the delegation from the Israeli zoo in order to share the experience of rehabilitation and maintenance of wild and exotic animals. Then, we reached the agreement on the transfer of the animals,” the Feldman Ecopark deputy director of zootechnic issues Valeriia Ivashchenko. “European otter is an extremely rare animal in Israel, that is why we decided to give this couple of predators to our colleagues.”

The otters will be transported by air from Kyiv in special cages prepared in accordance with all relevant European standards.

“These cages are finished with grid, all the necessary sizes and convenience are observed,” the vet of the Feldman Ecopark Anna Zhukovska noted. “Each of these otters will have individual cage for a comfortable and safe transportation.”

The vets indicate that the condition of the animals is perfect. According to the specialists, the otters have no clinical signs of any diseases. Earlier, they have been vaccinated and undergone the treatment for ecto- and endoparasites.

It is expected that the otters will tolerate the flight quietly, because this species is stress-resistant and adapts itself to the new environment quickly.

It should be noted that the Feldman Ecopark is the priority direction of the activity of the International Charitable Foundation “Oleksandr Feldman Foundation.”
