The Social and Humanitarian Multi-Complex Feldman Ecopark will support the public initiative “Clean Rivers,” which deals with cleaning riverbeds and banks of Kharkiv rivers from garbage.
“Clean Rivers is a young and rapidly developing volunteer environmental project that unites people caring about the ecological conditions of our lives. They undertook the care about one of the most important components of eco-environment – the condition of our rivers. We will definitely render informational support to the next campaigns of Clean Rivers, which start again in spring. Moreover, we will discuss the possibilities of deeper cooperation, in particular, in the field of ecological education,” they told in Ecopark.
This year, the volunteers of Clean Rivers carried out four joint works at the river Kharkiv moving nearly along the whole length of the river within the city territory. The first joint work was carried out on June 17, and 45 persons took part in it (afoot and by boats). They collected 16 m3 of garbage. Nearly 70 persons took part in the second ecological work, which was carried out on July 8. The canoes were joined by motor boats, which took the collected garbage to the collection centres. They collected nearly 10 m3 of garbage. The third work (August 12, near Zhuravlivka hydro park) united 150 persons and 30 boats, which resulted in 10 tons of collected garbage. The last campaign of this year was carried out on September 15. It was marked with the record 64 m3 of garbage, 170 participants and lectures about environmental protection, competitions, music and food prepared on fire. The garbage collected by volunteers in the river included a great number of plastic, tires, chairs, bulbs, clothes and even a coach, icons and documents.
