All-Ukrainian Service for Wild, Exotic and Domestic Animals Rescue “Feldman Ecopark Good Home” continues its work aimed at the introduction of the mechanism of control of the number of stray animals with the help of humane methods in Kharkiv oblast and neighborhood– the CSVR programme (capture, sterilization, vaccination, return to natural habitat), and the rules of domestic animal care. Recently, the members of the Centre have visited Chuhuiv (the Kharkiv oblast) and Konotop (the Sumy oblast) where they held meetings with representatives of local authorities and animal protection volunteers.
“Over the years the animal protection volunteers have won grants of the City Council on sterilization of animals in Chuhuiv. To expand this practice, they registered the corresponding petition, resulting in the meeting in the City Council to which “The Good Home” was invited We have outlined the advantages the mechanism of control of the number of stray animals with the help of humane methods which is the only effective method of problem solution — the head of the “Feldman Ecopark Good Home” Iryna Podvoiska told. — The public authorities expressed stake in cooperation with animal protection volunteers, in particular, in creation of the sterilization centre. We will surely help them with it”.
According to the Good Home specialists, Konotop is in the beginning of the way towards adoption of modern and humane methods of work with stray animals so far. At the meeting with local deputies, activists and utilities folks the specialists of the Good Home acquainted them with the CSVR programme, explained that only an integrated approach including except sterilization and vaccination of stray dogs and cats, a wide-scale explanatory work among the population, rehoming campaigns, preferential sterilization of pets, and that it is important – mutually beneficial cooperation betweenthe government and the animal protection volunteers. “In Konotop have also become interested in the CSVR programme. I hope, it will lead to adoption of the appropriate programme by the City Council” — Iryna Podvoiska emphasized.
It should be reminded that since its opening in 2010, the “Feldman Ecopark Good Home” rendered assistance to more than 22,000 domestic and wild animals. Last year “The Good Home” it launched an all-Ukrainian free information hotline. It is possible to receive a competent advice and, in case of need, to call for rescuers to help animals by calling 0-800-302-303.
