Feldman Ecopark Good Home Rescued Injured Raccoon Dog

Centre for Wild, Exotic and Domestic Animals Rescue “Feldman Ecopark Good Home” took for rehabilitation a raccoon dog with broken hind legs. Kind-hearted people brought it in the Social and Humanitarian Multi-Complex in the end of December 2018. The injured animal was found near the road in one of Kharkiv regions.

“The raccoon dog either has escaped from some menagerie, or is wild, as they may be found in our region. This poor animal was most probably knocked down by a car judging from the nature of the injuries – it has both hind legs broken. If these people hadn’t found it at the right moment and hadn’t brought it here, it would have died definitely,” the head of the Centre for Wild, Exotic and Domestic Animals Rescue “Feldman Ecopark Good Home” Iryna Podvoiska told. “We have given the animal to veterinarians immediately. They had to perform an operation on one of the legs – osteosynthesis was made and titanium plates were inserted. It was decided not to touch the second leg, as a break knits normally.”

According to Iryna Podvoiska, the rescued raccoon dog undergoes rehabilitation now. It was already vaccinated, underwent dehelmintization and other necessary procedures. The animal has a nourishing diet, is under the care of specialists and after the complete recovery it will be settled in a spacious enclosure with congeners. It should be reminded that there are nearly ten raccoon dogs in the Social and Humanitarian Multi-Complex, and the majority of them have been rescued by Feldman Ecopark Good Home as well.
